My skills are honed from over 10 years of experience working with bodies – in physiotherapy clinics, wellbeing centres and the music industry.
In listening, touching and treating my sessions are specific and effective. The right touch eases pain, calms the nervous system and offers immune system support.
Massage is an effective way to relieve muscle tension, ease stress and increase mobility. Sedentary jobs can bring about tight, deconditioned muscles and many postural changes and associated problems – eight hours a day spent at a desk simply isn’t what our bodies were designed for! Adding high-intensity exercise, gardening, DIY, or dance or music practice puts a lot of additional stress on the body.
Deep Tissue / Sports Massage
Deep tissue massage takes care of your muscles, ligaments and tendons, and releases fascia – the sheath that covers the entire muscular system, which when holding too much tension can cause aches, pains or injuries. I can ease shoulder tension, sciatica, refresh tired limbs and relax tight backs, hips and leg muscles.
I create all treatments around your specific needs, using effleurage (long strokes) and petrissage (kneading) to manipulate muscle tissue and bring fresh, oxygenated blood to your muscles by increasing its flow. If appropriate, I release soft tissue and muscle tension using other techniques including METs and resisted stretches.
Sports massage can help reduce the risk of injury, improve recovery from training and help with lymphatic drainage – which means toxins like lactic acid, which builds up after heavy training, creating a sense of heaviness, can leave the body quicker.
Thai Massage
Often called ‘lazy man’s yoga’, traditional Thai massage is an ancient system of healing with its roots in yoga, Ayurveda and Buddhist spiritual practice. This unique therapy combines rhythmic massage, deep stretching, gentle twists and acupressure. You’ll be clothed during your treatment, so will be most comfortable in soft stretchy clothing.
